As we succeed in improving the original trap we wanted to share our findings and decided to put it on the market. Jeroen van der Kooij has a Msc in Biology from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. He has a career as a high-school teacher and as a nature consultant. His skills and expertise focus on zoology, taxonomy, conservation biology, nature photography and education. Amphibians, small mammals and bats are his primary field of interest. Van der Kooij has lived/worked in the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Van der Kooij has published and co-puplished numerous of articles in national and international journals.
Alex Sattarvandi is an experienced herpetologist and creative environmentalist, he is technically skilled and he is always working hard on new inventions, with a strong urge to improve practicality. Alex and Jeroen have created this upgraded version of the “ortmann” trap together. Alex is of Swedish-Iranian roots but is currently residing in Norway, assisting Jeroen van der Kooij with fieldwork and product development.
